Green Roofs

Today’s rapidly climate and sensitive economy means Green Roofing is here to stay! Environmentally and ecologically friendly, it brings with it many benefits as well as being aesthetically pleasing.

Together with the important factor of increasing the life expectancy of a roof membrane (up to three fold) by protecting it from UV rays and weather damage, Green Roofing can also reduce fuel costs by both insulating and/or cooling buildings. By retaining water and having a lower run-off, the necessity for storage tanks and unsightly drainage infrastructure is also significantly reduced.

Whilst providing extra habitat for wildlife in Britain’s dwindling open spaces and extra leisure areas for locals, extensively planted roofs require minimal upkeep and are generally self-maintaining. The vegetation also acts as a dust filter and reduces noise for those around, therefore benefitting general health.

At Knight Asphalte we are proud to be contributing to our improving environment and have already installed the largest Green Roof in the City of London and were the first company in the UK to use Liquid Plastics waterproofing membrane for a Green Roof.
